Los Angeles

We reached Los Angeles by mid afternoon. The driving sure is interesting around here! We crossed Wilshire, Sunset and Melrose and ended up getting a a great hotel room for an excellent price a few minutes from the downtown action. Thanks go to my friend Ethan Wiley for the excellent recommendation. With free parking, wi-fi, and a great diner downstairs, we're all set while we're in town.

We're loving LA so far. It has a unique vibe and the houses nestled away in the Hollywood hills are as charming as I imagined. Although the idea that the 'beautiful people' live here is a bit of a myth, what is immediately apparent is that everybody out here is on their way back from the gym.

During the few hours left before sunset, we made the short hop over to Hollywood Boulevard and checked out Grauman's Chinese Theater (the home of so many movie premieres), the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Kodak Theater, which hosts the Academy Awards and American Idol.

Next, we cruised up Mulholland Drive and enjoyed seeing the famous Hollywood sign and the spectacular view over Los Angeles. The Hollywood Bowl was also clearly visible; James Taylor and Carole King were just beginning their performance to an appreciative crowd.

Tomorrow we have a full day planned, so keep an eye out for some more updates on Crossing the States. It's kind of a gross saying, that, don't you think? In the literal sense..

Ok, officially sick with jealousy now, don't mind admitting it.

You drove right by where I teach on Highland Ave. (the video ends right before the MBP Bldg.!)

How did Dale fit his fingers into there?? If it was ET's hand fair enough.....but I didn't think there was anyone with fingers as long as Dale's.

Well it turns out that John Travolta has exactly the same size hands as me. You were also outside the Theatre, Woody was looking good.
