We arrived on time in Boston and headed over to the Hertz rental agency to pick up the car for the road trip. It's a Ford Explorer and we were blown away when we found it gleaming in the sun like a giant sundae.
We quickly loaded in our gear and headed out of the city to Harvard on the hunt for cool t-shirts for Dale. Traffic was pretty heavy so it was a challenge to negotiate strange roads with so many lanes, especially when you have to do everything backwards! Nonetheless, Loll handled her first left hand drive on the right hand side with surprising confidence (I should have known). Soon i'll be behind the wheel, and this whole thing will turn into Death Race 2010.
Harvard has such an amazing energy and the Cambridge area was packed with people eating ice cream, hanging out in the sun and even performing Jeff Buckley songs with limited skill. Finishing the day with a terrific 'Boston Baseball Steak' in the sort of American tavern that Gordon Ramsay would feel compelled to renovate, we were all really pleased that we made so much of our first day on the road.
