Breaking Bad in Albuquerque

This afternoon, we drove the additional hour or so into Albuquerque, the location for one of the best television shows around right now: Breaking Bad. Despite being the largest city in the state and displaying some awesome public artwork, we found Albuquerque a little disappointing. The streets were largely filled with bikers and beggars. Despite it being a Saturday afternoon, the place was dead and most of the cool shops were closed.

We did, however, manage to locate the fast food restaurant that doubles as the meeting place for Walter White and Gus Fring in TV's Breaking Bad. The 'Twisters' fast food joint on Isleta Blvd is the real life location of 'Los Pollos Hermanos', the fictional cover operation for an entire underworld of drug dealing in the city. We had fun posing for a few photos. I've thrown in a couple of screenshots from the show for reference.

On leaving, we witnessed a real live drug deal, just yards from the Los Pollos set. Rock n' roll! Back on the road, we passed into Arizona before nightfall, stopping in the Holbrook area. We've gained yet another hour, making us eight hours behind the UK now. We're making great progress to Flagstaff too. Only another hundred or so miles to go until we arrive there tomorrow.
